Hope is delicious at JBJ Soul Kitchen, and I found out why

First visit to JBJ Soul Kitchen Red Bank

Even though it's been around for a while, we'd never been to JBJ (Jon Bon Jovi) Soul Kitchen in Monmouth County, Red Bank. We were in the area this weekend and decided to see if we could have “brunch” there. To our great delight, there was seating available (a table inside, since it was 90 degrees outside). Sunday brunch was a three course meal.

For those of you who don't know, here's their mission statement from their website: “JBJ Soul Kitchen is Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation“We serve paying customers and those in need. If you are unable to pay, please come into our restaurant, enjoy a hot meal, and learn about volunteering at JBJ Soul Kitchen. If you are able to donate, please Pay it Forward in addition to the suggested donation. We provide a dining experience that fosters a sense of community and addresses the issue of food insecurity.”

JBJ Soul Kitchen Red Bank Review

The staff was very friendly and explained to us how the menu works, how we can “pay it forward” and provide a hot nutritious meal to someone in need. To start, we had a nice cold iced tea and chose the Pasta Fagioli soup. I know it was a hot day but I would never leave without the Pasta Fagioli. The service was prompt and everyone working there was kind enough to volunteer their time and talents. Well done to all the staff. Next we had our main courses. We ordered the Eggplant Pesto Panini and the Spinach, Goat Cheese and Swiss Chard Frittata. Both dishes were delicious and came with potatoes, sweet potatoes, coleslaw and salad. Check out the photos of the dishes below and see for yourself what a treat it was. We ended with delicious desserts, lemon cake with cream cheese frosting and apple cake with whipped cream and caramel drizzle. We also had good coffee and left the meal with a smile on our faces. The restaurant looks great, is clean and inviting. As they say, “everyone is welcome at the table.” Overall we had a great experience, and hope is delicious indeed. The menu changes, so be sure to check what is currently on offer.
