What I love most about TikTok is that it offers a new perspective on things you've probably seen a million times before. In this case, it's the kitchen in Jenna Lyons' SoHo apartment.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the Bravo-Verse (and just in case you're wondering, I'm counting on you guys), Jenna Lyons is a fan-favorite, somewhat passive actress. Real Housewives of New York, but that's only part of her story. resume. From 2010 to 2017, she served as executive creative director and president of retailer J.Crew, and in 2020 launched a false eyelash brand and her own reality show, “Stylish with Jenna Lyons.'' I did. She is also now the new editor (reportedly). She is the editor-in-chief of lifestyle and fashion publication The Coveteur.
Given Jenna's solid professional life and her exquisite and unique taste, her luxurious New York City apartment has also attracted a lot of attention, with articles and videos of it appearing in the likes of The New York Times and Vogue . You've probably seen clips of her built-in Vitsoe bookshelf and brass-accented bathroom, but in case you haven't seen it yet, here's what you need to know.
But recently, a different side of Jenna's loft has begun to emerge. This comes courtesy of her almost explicitly acknowledged personal chef, who posts videos of her unique kitchen on TikTok.

Content creator and chef Rob Lee shares a clip of himself cooking for New York City's “fashion icons” in a well-edited post, and eagle-eyed users find the background unique. I could immediately tell that it was the one and only Jenna's apartment. (“Jenna Lyon's kitchen looks familiar everywhere you go!” one person commented. After all, it's one of the most “pinned” interiors on all of Pinterest.) ) But Rob's POV adds a touch of reality (no kidding) to the equation, showing fans and users what the famous kitchen looks and feels like in real time. What's most distinctive? The brass backsplash.
At this point, Jenna is known for her love of brass accents (especially unlacquered brass). This is known to be treated with salt water to give it a soft patina. “I think I started the brass appreciation community,” she once commented. So it's no surprise that her kitchen is covered in metal, a unique touch that speaks to her taste and vision.
“Using brass as a kitchen backsplash offers several different aesthetic and functional benefits, as demonstrated in Jenna Lyons' design,” says Alice Moszczyn, interior designer at Planner 5D. Ski says. “Aesthetically, brass adds a touch of class and warmth to your kitchen. Reflective surfaces help bounce light around the room, making the space appear brighter and larger.”
This metal also “complements a variety of design styles, from modern to traditional, and adds an unexpected visual element to the overall kitchen design.”
What's more, brass also has inherent anti-microbial properties, making it a “hygienic choice for kitchen environments.”
Jenna's backsplash is chic, but it's not easy to copy. That said, “There are still ways to achieve a similar look without spending a fortune,” Alice advises. “One option is to use brass laminate or brass-colored paint to mimic the look of solid brass at a lower cost. Another idea is to use brass faucets, cabinet handles, and light fixtures. “Incorporate brass accents and hardware into your kitchen design.''
