If you're like me, you've been looking to actress, influencer, and TV host Ayesha Curry for design and fashion inspiration for years. I first learned about her through her husband, NBA player Stephen Curry, but she's long been in her own league.
Maybe you're a casual fan of Instagram. Food You might be watching her cooking show “Ayesha's Homemade” on her network. Or maybe you're an avid consumer of her line of skin care, Sweet July. Either way, there's no doubting her influence and her excellent taste in everything from fashion to makeup to interior design. I'm always looking into her best home decor brands to find new items that I can use to recreate her look.
Finally, Ayesha recently shared a photo on Instagram that highlights one of my favorite pieces of advice when it comes to home design.
The photo itself is very casual, and was probably taken by Asha without any idea that a style editor would write about it, but I think it shows the importance and versatility of rugs, especially in the kitchen. It automatically makes the space around the counter cozy and provides a soft layer underfoot.
“Rugs play a huge role in completing a room, anchoring furniture, and adding warmth and depth,” says Rosa Glenn, chief merchant at Ernesta Rugs. “Color, texture, style and precise size can make a statement, ultimately grounding a space and defining its aesthetic.”
So what's the best part about Ayesha's setup? It's easy to replicate for yourself. All you need to do is find the right runner. “Use samples to experiment with different styles and textures, find unexpected favorites, and create a cohesive space that goes beyond simple color matching,” says Rosa about purchasing a new rug. I'll tell you.
With her advice in mind, read my quick compilation of fashionable runners below. It's time to transform your kitchen!

How can you tell if a rug is of good quality?
When buying online, it's understandably difficult to determine quality. Thankfully, Rosa has some tips. “The most basic rule of thumb is that the more natural the material, the higher the quality. Wool is the gold standard,” she told me.
“You should also look for words like hand-knotted, hand-knotted, and hand-tufted. These are very good indicators that the rug has been put together with great integrity,” she continues. Plus, if possible, “it's always nice to get a sample of the rug so you can touch and feel it yourself.”
