Kmart Australia's small but useful gadget has been praised for its 'genius' design and dirt-cheap price.

The $1.75 can strainer has quickly become a hit with shoppers and already has a 4.9-star rating on the website.

Slide your kitchen essentials into the top of the can to easily drain liquids while preventing food from falling into the sink.

Melbourne shopper Chantel Baresi showed off her purchase on TikTok, saying it's a must-have for every kitchen. She also raved about the $5 cloth holder and $5 silicone air fryer tray.

Chantel captioned the clip, “You need these Kmart gadgets in your life.”

Shoppers called the purchase a “great invention” and the video was liked more than 23,000 times.

“The can strainer is genius,” one person wrote. “Oh Kmart, what do you think next?”

Another said, “A can strainer definitely takes up much less space for me than a colander on a bench full of dishes waiting to be washed.”

“Oh, I didn't know they had this stuff. I'm off to go shopping,” added one more.

Earlier this month, Kmart excited shoppers by launching its Doona Dressing Gown ahead of winter.

Available for $29, it has, as the name suggests, a wrap-around quilted design that makes you feel like you're wearing a doona.

Mom Rachel de Oliveira rushed to get her hands on the affordable staple and raved about it in a TikTok video.

“Have you seen Doona's dressing gowns at Kmart? They're so cozy,” she said.

“My favorite Kmart purchase so far. I feel like I spend more time in my pajamas and dressing gown than anything else, so I was super excited about today's find.”
