Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – Vietnam International Furniture and Home Accessories Fair (VIFA-EXPO) returned to Ho Chi Minh City for the 11th time, attracting 350 exhibitors from home and abroad.
The expo will be held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) from March 7th to 10th and will feature furniture and home decor companies from all over Vietnam, international furniture, home decor and handicrafts from around the world. There will be approximately 2,000 booths operated by manufacturers and traders. and craft villages, cooperatives, and handicraft enterprises.
The event was organized by Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade and Ho Chi Minh City Handicrafts and Wood Industry Association (HAWA).
The trade fair attracted a large number of foreign exhibitors, many of them from the leading timber and accessories industries, including Singapore, Taiwan (China), the United States, Australia, Russia, Canada, China, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, and South Korea. said HAWA Chairman Nguyen Quoc Khanh.
At the opening ceremony, Ha Cong Tuan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that forestry has become one of Vietnam's important economic sectors, as timber and wood products are Vietnam's sixth largest source of foreign exchange earnings. Stated.
He pointed out that Vietnam's wood and wood products rank fifth in the world, accounting for 6% of the global market share, and leading Southeast Asia.
Tuan added that the global demand for wooden furniture will increase by 3.5% this year, so Vietnamese producers need to focus more on branding and strengthen trade promotion to expand the market.
In the first two months of this year, Vietnam exported wood and wood products worth $1.48 billion to 38 markets, an increase of 38.3% year-on-year.
Significant price increases were recorded in Switzerland (508%), Finland (486.5%), Turkey (187.6%), Saudi Arabia (187.4%), Malaysia (138%) and the Czech Republic (104.8%). -VNA
