NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A local restaurant is mourning the loss of a co-worker and raising funds for his family after he was killed in a shooting at an apartment building over the weekend.
Around 11 p.m. Saturday night, officers on patrol at Bridgeview Apartments heard gunshots in the area. According to the Charleston Police Department, an argument led to a shooting that left two people injured and killed 44-year-old Brian Fox.
The Junction Kitchen family is working to support Fox's family by raising funds for his funeral expenses, his children's education and reflecting on the impact he made on the community.
“His aura was invaluable. He was so kind, both in and out of the restaurant. He's irreplaceable,” said Laura Lee Rose, a waitress at Junction Kitchen.
Mr Fox leaves behind three children, his mother and friends who adored him. His son, Brian Jr., said every day is a struggle but that his father's co-workers at Junction Kitchen are helping him get through it.
“I couldn't sleep for at least two days. I couldn't eat, sleep, drink, nothing. After a couple of days, you start to get better,” Brian said.
The Junction Kitchen family has sprung into action to care for their family member and is currently raising funds to cover Fox's funeral expenses and ensure her children are successful.
“So we will allocate some of it towards funeral expenses for the family. And then we will also provide for the education of our youngest children,” said Kimana Littleflower, owner of Junction Kitchen.
