In her first public message since undergoing abdominal surgery in January, Britain's Princess of Wales, Kate, posted a photo of herself with her three children on Sunday and thanked the public for their support.
The photo taken by her husband and heir to the throne, Prince William, showed the Duchess of Cambridge, 42, looking healthy and smiling, surrounded by Prince George, Prince Louis, and Princess Charlotte.
“Thank you very much for your kind wishes and continued support over the past two months,” Kate wrote in a letter. X's message. “Happy Mother's Day, everyone.”
In the UK, Mother's Day is celebrated on Sunday. Kensington Palace's office said the photo was taken earlier this week in Windsor, where the family lives.
Kate was hospitalized for two weeks in January after undergoing surgery for a non-cancerous illness of unknown origin. She has not been seen in public since then and Kensington Palace said she was unlikely to return to her royal duties until after Easter later this month.
Rumors and wild speculation have been circulating on social media in recent weeks about the health of the princess, who has been absent from public royal life since Christmas.
Her office issued a statement earlier this month reiterating that it would only provide “material updates” about her recovery.
Duchess Kate's surgery came on the same day palace officials announced that King Charles, 75, would also be hospitalized for treatment for an enlarged prostate.
During the king's hospitalization, his medical team discovered that he had an unspecified type of cancer. The monarch has had to postpone his official duties while undergoing treatment, but has been photographed carrying out some of his duties as head of state.
