“Did you know you can reuse the plastic berry containers you have around the house?” says the creator.
The process is simple.
“Wash and air dry,” says The Kitcn. “Use it to store markers and other art supplies. Pack your sandwiches in strawberry containers before storing them in the cooler. This will keep them from falling apart. Use smaller berry containers to store cotton balls. , cotton swabs, and other toiletries. ”
How does it help?
Reusing plastic is a great way to keep it out of landfills and the environment. Recycling is an option, but the U.S. recycling rate is only 5-6%.
However, if you follow local guidelines, you have a better chance of properly disposing of your recyclables. In Houston, for example, about two-thirds to three-quarters of recycled materials are processed for reuse, according to KHOU.
Still, the remaining 25-36% is thrown away, so reusing can reduce this waste. As a result, landfills emit less methane gas and protect the oceans, where much of the trash ends up.
The Berry package may be a small part of the problem, but every little bit helps.
With recycling and second-hand shopping becoming more expensive, there are even ways to make money by decluttering. Sell or trade clothes, sneakers, electronics, music equipment, arts and crafts, and more.
Getting rid of old stuff makes you feel good, helps others, and reduces your impact on the planet. If you're looking for a place to start, check out For Days, thredUP, or GotSneakers.
