Kitchen of Life, a culinary arts program through the Lori Schottenstein Chabad Center, will host two events in July.
The Bexley-based program, led by director Rabbi Shea Kaltman, son of Chabad Columbus' Rabbis Aliya and Ester Kaltman, will honor volunteers and recognize the resilience of the Jewish and Israeli people, according to a Kaltman news release. On July 24, a multimedia seminar, “Security of Israel's Holy Land,” will be held from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m. Co-produced by Jewish Educational Media and the Rohr Institute for Jewish Learning, the seminar, led by Kaltman, will seek to answer questions such as how Jewish forces should conduct themselves in war, how Israel should present itself to the world, especially the United States, and how Jews can respond to an increasingly hostile environment. The event marks the culmination of a year of Torah classes with Chabad Columbus, where students learned insights from Kabbalah and Jewish values when making life-and-death decisions, the release said.

The following day, July 25, from 6-7:30 p.m., Kitchen of Life will host a volunteer appreciation evening with hors d'oeuvres and wine to honor the year's efforts of Bexley residents, Columbus business groups and organizational volunteers. As these volunteers cook, they will teach skills such as assertiveness, interpersonal and coping skills and foster a supportive environment. The evening will also feature a year-end wrap-up presentation highlighting the volunteers' impact on the students the program serves.
Both current and past volunteers are welcome to attend, please respond to your request to attend the Appreciation Night at scheduling@kolc.org.
Both events will be held at Kitchen of Life, 2525 E. Main St. in Bexley.
