WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — A man with a lengthy arrest record dating back to the 1980s is back behind bars after being placed on Crimestoppers' Most Wanted Suspects list last month.
Billy Wayne Crawford was wanted on new theft charges in February. The theft involved stealing the car of a woman who was hospitalized after being assaulted.
She told police Crawford was her ex-boyfriend. She said she received messages from two women who saw him in the car, confronted him and drove away.
She said her debit card, Bluetooth device and cell phone charger were stolen.
Police said surveillance camera footage showed the women yelling at the officer, who they recognized as Crawford.
In one previous robbery, police say he took nearly everything from an apartment on Avenue C, including the kitchen sink.
Another conviction was for taking a medicine ball from a fitness center on Brookdale Drive.
In another incident, a man who tried to sell him a BMW gave him the keys to start the car and Crawford drove off, police said.
Crawford's sentence for theft is 180 days to 14 months. He was booked into the Wichita County Jail on $50,000 bail.
