Since Kmart introduced its home improvement products, it's been sending DIY enthusiasts into a frenzy with everything from designer door handles to easy-to-install stone tiles. However, the product of choice seems to be self-adhesive tiles in the budget range.
One shopper shared her recent “mini Kmart kitchen reno” to a Facebook page dedicated to Kmart hacks, leaving many stunned by the complete transformation using $20 white self-adhesive 3D subway tiles.
She set out to style the kitchen, covering the bright red splashback with easy-to-install self-adhesive tiles on top. She said she was aiming for a more “beachy feel” and the red ended up feeling “too dark and gloomy” against the rest of the house.
After having a red kitchen for 10 years, this change made a huge difference to the space without the expense or effort of a complete renovation.
“I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but my main goal was to make a small house look bigger, and I feel like it worked,” she said of the impressive transformation. “I feel like white makes my home feel very calming.”

Instant Glow Up only covered a small portion of the kitchen, but it had the biggest impact. Dozens of Kmart fans couldn't believe how good she looked, saying her new space was “so much better.”
“1000x better. I used the same tiles at home and no one knows,” one person commented on her post.
“The white tiles definitely look brighter. It's nice and fresh and you did a great job!” added another.
A third person praised: “What a wonderful change.”
The DIYer explained the process and said it was his first time using Kmart tiles and it was surprisingly easy.
“Actually, I didn't want to go with full white tiles at first, but this was my first attempt. I'm in shock about measuring and cutting, so I thought this would be more forgiving.” “I felt that way,” she said of her efforts. , it clearly paid off.
While it looked great for an easy update, some people questioned whether it was safe to use vinyl tiles so close to countertops.
“I never thought you could get this close to a hot plate. Is it safe to use it?” one person asked.
However, some people have had no problems using it in their own splashbacks.
According to Kmart's website, the tile is suitable for high-splash areas such as kitchens and laundry areas, and is water, oil, high temperature and mold resistant.
Fellow DIYers who have used self-adhesive tiles also raved about its quality and easy installation.
“I'm very happy with this tile. The adhesive is very strong and I love the way it looks. The only problem is when pasting the overlaps, otherwise it's easy to peel and stick. ” one person said in a review on the Kmart website.
“Better than expected,” added another.
