I learned a lot through this project and improved my skill set in many areas, including modeling, texturing, and expanding my knowledge of Unreal Engine. Although he faced many challenges, he knew from the beginning that this project would allow him to delve deeper into building environments in Unreal Engine. One of the biggest challenges was finding a way to get the right specular highlights and translucency on the glass. This is because we know that real-time rendering is still one of the areas we struggle with. However, I am very happy with the final result.
My advice to fellow artists is to not be afraid to ask a friend for help, or have a friend look at your project with fresh eyes and give you feedback. It's always helpful to get someone else's perspective on an issue. Additionally, it's never too late to revisit and improve old projects. There are lots of great online tutorials on YouTube and 80 Level that are very helpful for self-study. I hope the tutorials presented in this article are useful for new artists.
