Spring Creek hosted another round of AMA 250MX with Levi Kitchen taking two wins, and Hayden Deegan had a difficult day with crashes and issues but still managed to finish 3-4.
The race got off to a great start for the championship leader who won today. Rookie Casey Cochran, Kitchen and Ty Masterpool were behind him, but after the first lap Deegan held on to the lead, followed by Kitchen, Tom Viall, Cochran and Joe Shimoda.
Nine minutes later, Deegan crashed and resumed the race in third place, but “ceded” the lead to Kitchen, with Vialet taking second place. A few minutes of changes followed, with Deegan chasing Vialet, the Frenchman in turn attacking Shimoda, with Deegan soon managing to beat 30th place.
Kitchen ultimately won by 0.1590 seconds over Viale, with Deegan coming in third.
The second race in this category got off to a chaotic start with Deegan involved in a multi-car crash at the first corner. Despite damage to his bike, Deegan managed to climb back up to fourth place, but was ultimately unable to stop his rivals from catching up in the championship standings.
Casey Cochran led for much of the race before being overtaken by Kitchens in the final minutes, championship points contender Tom Viall retired after a crash, and other drivers had trouble, including Chance Hymas, who Viall had inexplicably abandoned, and Joe Shimoda, who had front wheel problems.
In the end, Kitchen secured a double victory, with rookie Cochrane taking second and Max Anstie third.
