Purple is gaining in popularity and it looks like lilac and lavender could be the next big kitchen trends to appear in our homes in 2023.
Home improvement store Tap Warehouse analyzed Pinterest trend data and found interest in lilac kitchens has increased by 50%. Last year, trend forecasting firm WGSN predicted that a similar shade of digital lavender would be his color of the year for 2023. Together with our experts, we think that pale purple may be the best color to use in your kitchen as part of your kitchen color scheme.
“Lilac is traditionally the color of choice for spring and early summer, but when used correctly it can stand the test of time as it has real psychological benefits,” says Avalana Simpson, Creative Director at Avalana Design. states.
“Lilac has an uplifting effect. The brighter and punchier the shade, the more optimistic you feel. It also creates a sense of intimacy, so it's perfect for entertaining spaces such as open-plan kitchens and dining spaces. is the ideal space for this color.”
Lilac and lavender kitchen trends
If you're not sure where to start with the lilac kitchen trend, start with color accents on furniture like vases, chairs, and refrigerators. If you really want to make an impact, you can always work your way up to walls that are the same color from floor to ceiling.

Tash Bradley, interior design director and color consultant at Lick, says lavender works well with modern kitchen ideas and can be elevated further by pairing it with brass accessories, dark blues and natural greens.
“If you want to upgrade your kitchen cabinets to paint them a lavender color, this would look great against soft, neutral walls.” It also looks incredible when paired with white stone countertops and warm fixtures. It will look so beautiful. ”
“Beyond kitchen cabinets, it's a great color for dining spaces and nooks.” For example, if you have a banquette, you can use lavender on the wood frame and pair it with striped fabric. ”

Lilac is a color that goes best with natural materials, especially wood and marble. “Choose a mix of brass and gold fixtures and accessories, lots of plant greenery, and neutral textiles like Persian rugs and window treatments,” says Avarana of Avarana Design.
Debbie Lee, design manager at ILIV, agrees that lilac is a versatile shade that pairs amazingly well with grays, oranges, and yellows.
