LuCretia's Kitchen has moved to a new home in Old Louisville.
The soul food and barbecue restaurant, known for its motto of “love in the first bite,” has reopened in a brick-and-mortar location at 617 W. Oak St., the former site of Daddy Rich's. This was also the original location of Seafood Lady, which recently closed its NuLu space.
After years of selling dinners out of her home, Lucretia Thompson opened her eponymous eatery and catering business in 2015 at Chef Space, a kitchen incubator at 812 W Muhammad Ali Blvd.
Lucretia's Kitchen began serving take-out orders last year at 617 W. Oak St., near North Lyme Coffee & Donuts and the Louisville Metro Authority's Edison Center. The restaurant officially opened after a grand opening event held on Friday.
“I'm very excited about this opportunity. I've been looking for the perfect place for a long time and I'm happy to finally be home,” Thompson said in a news release.
Thompson added that LuCretia's Kitchen “represents three generations of Thompson BBQ.”
With the reopening, Soul Food Sunday will be back. A wide range of dishes will be offered, including fried chicken, meatloaf, smoked pork chops, ribs, rib tips and brisket, as well as side options such as macaroni and cheese and homemade Southern collard greens. , cabbage, sweet potato.
