A property for sale in Lumberville features a kitchen designed by Julia Child and is also where Child and her husband, Paul, held their wedding reception, writes Liz Spicole. Philadelphia Inquirer.
Buckshire was owned by Paul's twin brother, Charlie Child.
“When Julia was writing her cookbook, the quantities were completely different in France to those here,” says current homeowner Milena Coffey, “so she sent the recipes to Charlie's wife Freddie, and they tried them out here.”
Though the kitchen is attractive, with tall countertops made to accommodate Child's 6-foot-2 inch stature, it wasn't the biggest attraction for Coffey and her husband, Tom, when they first visited 30 years ago.
For them, one of the highlights was the dining room with its mural, an example of the work of Charlie Child, who also did the murals at the Doylestown Post Office.
