She won the 77th Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Ali, a 17-year-old girl living in the “Ali” neighborhood of New York City who is controlled by her overbearing mother and searching for her place in the world, making her the 10th person to win the award in her Broadway debut.
