Former first lady Michelle Obama on Monday shared a photo from her trip to New York for the opening performance of the new musical “Hell's Kitchen.” The former FLOTUS attended the Broadway event on Saturday night, along with a host of A-list stars.
For the occasion, President Obama wore a belted Brandon Maxwell strapless top with a light long-sleeved shirt underneath. She also wore black cargo pants and completed the look with black pointy-toe heels. As for accessories, President Obama wore statement silver earrings and wore her hair in a long, dramatic braid.
The first image featured a group photo with Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Alicia Keys, Keyes' mother Telia Joseph, and Keyes' husband Swizz Beatz. “[Alicia Keys] You did it again!I really loved every second [‘Hell’s Kitchen’] And before you know it, you've been singing and dancing all night,” the caption of President Obama's post began.
“I know how hard you worked to bring this piece to life, and I felt your creativity and light shine through throughout. You and the cast should be so proud.” ” Obama's post also includes a candid snapshot of the former first lady chatting with the Grammy-winning singer. Keys wore an elevated denim look inspired by Paul Gaultier.
Obama's post-White House style certainly shows the former first lady's modern approach to fashion. Her clothes she has worn at past events feature a high-fashion, modern edge that contrasts with the traditional ensembles she wore during her eight years in the White House. President Obama showed his penchant for modern style when he wore a leather look by Sergio Hudson to a screening of “American Symphony'' in New Orleans.
“Hell's Kitchen” is a new jukebox musical with a book by Christopher Diaz and music and lyrics by Alicia Keys. The show is a semi-autobiographical story of Keyes growing up in a famous neighborhood in New York City.
