Former Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) is campaigning on “family issues” in his U.S. Senate race, he told Newsmax on Saturday.
Rogers told America Right Now that his campaign is distancing itself from “the big issues that Democrats are talking about,” focusing on everything from how “the government is trying to take away our pickup trucks, our gas stoves, our gas water heaters” to how the costs of groceries, gas and household items have “go up $1,000 a month since Joe Biden took office.”
“Here in Michigan, people are suffering,” Rogers continued, “so we're talking to people and proposing solutions that will impact their dinner table, their workplace and the commute to get there.”
Rogers has been in a relatively neck-and-neck race with his Democratic opponent, Rep. Elissa Slotkin, since late April, according to FiveThirtyEight, and the two candidates have seen mixed results in polls since then.
