Harvey Savage of MLK Kitchen said the money raised from the fundraiser will be used to fund the building's expansion.
Since 1969, the organization has been working to feed those in need in the Toledo community.

Savage's father, Harvey Sr., founded the organization in 1969 after witnessing the harsh reality of food insecurity.
“I saw a man eating from a trash can behind my house, so I invited him in and gave him food,” Savage said. “And that’s what inspired him to open the kitchen.”
This nonprofit organization provides both hot meals and food baskets to local residents in need.
The kitchen, located at 650 Vance St., is open Monday through Thursday. Hot meals will be served from noon to 1:30 p.m., and those who come to the kitchen to pick up a meal will also receive a food basket. Food baskets can also be picked up from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
“We served about 35,000 meals last year. We've served probably close to 2 million meals over our 55 years of service,” Savage said.
