“Just remove the label, clean it, fill it with your favorite beverage and insert a stainless steel straw into the small hole in the top of the container.”
If you prefer to use your own jars, the lids also fit perfectly over mason jars.
Next, Sarah says she uses the larger size of this container as a snack container for things like movie theaters. The lids on both sides make it easy to access snacks and easy for little hands to open.
A final way to use Parmesan tins at home is in floral arrangements. Stems can be inserted through the holes in the top. “The lid keeps everything in place,” says Sarah.
Sarah also shared a little bonus tip.
“Remember, these lids are a universal fit for a variety of containers,” she says.
How it helps
Reusing these containers for snacks and storage can help you save money on Tupperware, etc. By reusing just a quarter of your storage containers, you can save $25 each year on new storage containers.
Not only is this a money-saving tip, but it's also a great way to help reduce waste. The average American produces about five pounds of trash per day, which leads to overflowing landfills.
“The United States is on pace to run out of landfill space within 18 years,” Global Citizen reported in 2018, citing data from the Solid Waste Environmental Excellence Protocol.
Some countries, such as South Korea, have been able to significantly reduce waste through effective recycling and composting programs. Reducing the amount of trash going to landfills not only keeps them from filling up, but also reduces methane pollution, a powerful gas that contributes significantly to global warming.
