JURONG, Singapore — Mondelez International Inc. has opened a regional biscuit and baked goods lab and innovation kitchen at its Singapore Technology Centre in Singapore. Mondelez invested $5 million in the facility, which the company said will act as a strategic research centre and regional hub “to drive creative development and innovation in the biscuit and baked goods sector.”
Mondelez established the Singapore Technical Center in 2006 and expanded the facility in 2018 to focus on innovation and product development in the gum and candy category. Mondelēz said the Singapore Technical Center currently has expertise and technological capabilities in product development, packaging, process technology development, consumer science, analytical science, ingredient research, science and regulation.
With the addition of the lab and innovation kitchen, Mondelez said it hopes to accelerate its mission to “make the right snacks, at the right time, in the right way.” The company plans to develop products that encourage portion control and conscious indulgence while exploring flavor innovation and different product formats.
