Similar to pastel eclectic decor, the rise of this trend was first reported in Pinterest's Summer Trends Report, which outlined “Nancy Meyers Core” as the biggest interiors trend of the season, with searches on the platform for “Nancy Meyers living room” up 2,090% and searches for “Nancy Meyers home” up 2,055% compared to the same time last year.

While many are obviously searching for shots of the actual interiors featured in the film, they're also looking for inspiration to recreate Nancy Meyers' elegant yet cozy aesthetic in their own spaces. So we spoke to a few interiors experts to share their tips on how to bring the style into your own home and their key decorating must-haves.

“On Pinterest, people are searching for all types of Nancy Meyers-inspired rooms, turning to the platform for guidance on how to style and shop for items to create the perfect summer host look at home,” commented Matt Siberry, Head of Home, Pinterest UK. Top searches included “Nancy Meyers bedroom,” which saw a 1505% increase in searches, and “Nancy Meyers kitchen,” which saw a 620% increase in searches.

Her spaces prioritize functional elegance, ensuring they are beautiful and practical. Thoughtful accessories and carefully selected décor add character and charm.”

Victoria Foster, interior stylist at ScS, continues: “Each room has a casual yet upscale feel and her style has an approachable warmth. Her signature colour palette is neutral and crisp, using beige, white and black, with accessories adding pops of colour and personality.”

Some have compared this style to the coastal granny style trend that was popular a few years back, and while there is some overlap between the two, there are also differences.

“While both trends share comfort, elegance, and neutral palettes, the Myers style is more sophisticated and blends modern and traditional elements. In contrast, the Coastal Grandma trend is a relaxed and casual style with coastal motifs. Additionally, while Myers interiors feature premium finishes and carefully selected art, the Coastal Grandma style favors rustic, beach-inspired décor,” explains Alex.

Why is the Nancy Meyers aesthetic so popular right now?

Considering that Nancy Meyers hasn't released a new movie in years, you might be wondering why this interior style reference is so popular now. And we wouldn't blame you, but our experts have the answer for this one too.

“Myers' iconic romantic comedies are some of the most popular in the genre, and the era of her films may be nostalgic for homeowners who watched them in their youth and now want to recreate that atmosphere,” Victoria says.

She adds: “The popularity of her style can also be attributed to the recent trend of 'quiet luxury' in both fashion and interiors, which her protagonists, many of whom are affluent and live in sophisticated, comfortable yet minimalist homes, are a perfect fit for this trend.”

Matt from Pinterest UK believes it's the timeless feel and storytelling nature of movie homes that's the reason: “We think the reason Nancy Meyers-inspired decor is so popular is because it seems to tell a story. Whether it's a vintage vase or a treasured coffee table, this trend infuses any interior space with nostalgia and charm, creating a space that feels unique and individual.”

How to incorporate Nancy Meyers Core into your home

When recreating Nancy Meyers' aesthetic in your home, start with her signature color palette.

“To achieve this look, start with neutral tones of white, cream and soft grey, then incorporate layered textures with throws, pillows and rugs,” advises Alex.

Victoria agrees: “Oversized rugs are key to bringing her style into a home. Her living room features intimate seating with sofas and armchairs carefully positioned for conversation. Zones are separated by large vintage-style rugs that fill the space. The space also often features a plush footstool in the middle, bringing comfort and style.”

As mentioned above, a sense of quiet, cozy and luxurious is key, which is why bold patterns are less common, with the exception of timeless striped motifs seen in accessories and upholstery.

“A popular pattern in her decor is bold stripes, usually in navy and white, which is a popular trend this year. Adding striped accessories like cushions, throws and rugs to your decor will add interest while maintaining clean, sophisticated lines,” says Victoria.

As Matt already mentioned, vintage-style vases and classic coffee tables are great for bringing the Nancy Meyers style into your home, but there are other elements you can choose from too: “Choose furniture with timeless, clean lines, mix and match contemporary pieces, and add a personal touch with carefully selected art. Finally, use warm, indirect lighting to create a cozy, inviting atmosphere,” says Alex.

When it comes to cooking spaces, Shaker kitchens are a style most commonly seen in Nancy Meyers romantic comedies. “She tends to opt for Shaker-style kitchens because they're timeless and give the space a clean look. If possible, you can achieve this look instantly by simply replacing your cupboard doors with this style,” suggests Victoria.
