In his Instagram video, Nate Berkus explained that he decided to use Portola Paint in Nitti Gritti for his kitchen cabinets. As you can see in the photos he shared with the video, the cabinets coordinate beautifully with the marble Jeremiah Brent chose, which also has the same muddy green streaks running through it. If you're in the market for new countertops, the HGTV star's kitchen is a great inspiration.
But don't worry if you're not ready for a major renovation just yet. After all, the neutral shade “Nitty Gritty” and similar hues go with just about anything. A muddy gray neutral green looks amazing when paired with white marble, granite, and even porcelain countertops and backsplashes. Neutral green cabinets look even better when paired with butcher block counters and black accents. The world is truly yours.
One thing worth keeping in mind is what effect you want to create with your neutral green cabinets. As mentioned above, black or wooden accents can highlight the green, but if you want something that fits more with Berkus' aesthetic (i.e. nature-inspired and simple), you'll probably prefer something that creates a seamless flow. Again, this doesn't mean you have to remove your existing countertops, but think about small, inexpensive ways to incorporate color into the rest of your kitchen, like tea towels, storage containers, or even potted plants.
