World of Beer Bar & Kitchen could reopen in the South Point neighborhood in the summer under new franchise owner Jay Patel.
“We have always felt that Jacksonville is a wonderful and vibrant city,” said a March 22 statement provided by World of Beer Bar & Kitchen.
The location is 5105 Butler Blvd. will operate as World of Beer from May 2022 to May 2023, marking the concept's second successful run in Jacksonville.
Landlord Hakimian Holdings opened a restaurant on March 14 inside the World of Beer building, located in the outer section of Hakimian's Liberty Center headquarters at Butler Boulevard and Bonneval Road on Interstate 95. He said there is a possibility that it could reopen within two to three months.
Hakimian Holdings owns the World of Beer building, one of two 5,600-square-foot buildings it subdivided and constructed on its corporate headquarters site at 7077 Bonneval Road in 2020.
The World of Beer building still bears the name and furniture is piled up inside.
“This new franchisee is independently managed, well-capitalized and has the experience necessary to operate the concept,” said Blake Hakimian, senior vice president of leasing for Jacksonville-based Hakimian Holdings. “I have this,” he said.
“This hallway is buzzing every day with daytime office workers and hotel guests looking for lunch, dinner, and entertainment options. With the right management team in place, our team has grown to the same level it once flourished. We are hopeful that this restaurant will reopen and do better than ever,” Hakimian said.
Due to organizational issues within the franchise group, World of Beer Bar & Kitchen will close approximately one year later, effective May 7, 2023.
Sean Gisens, president of World of Beer Jacksonville's franchisee and responsible for one Hospitality Leaders Jacks and two Hospitality Leaders Jacks, issued the following corporate statement in May: Announced.
“Although this franchise store has experienced great success since its opening, the franchise owner faced organizational challenges that it could not overcome to continue operating.”

WOB Jacksonville South Point opened on May 25, 2022. The 5,625-square-foot restaurant offered more than 300 beers and 40 rotating taps, along with wine and spirits. It featured two Topgolf swing suites and a large outdoor patio.
A planned Jacksonville Beach location with a rooftop bar never opened.
This was the second incarnation of the beer-focused establishment.
Another franchisee opened two restaurants starting in 2013, but closed them in 2016.
The first Jacksonville location opened in 2013 in the Tinseltown area by another franchisee, followed by a 2015 location in Jacksonville Beach.
The Jacksonville Beach location was short-lived, lasting less than a year. He closed the Tinseltown store in 2016.
Tampa-based World of Beer started in 2007 and has 40 locations listed on its WorldofBeer.com site, including two in Odessa, Fla., and Hinesville, Ga., in 2024. The location is scheduled to open soon. Jacksonville is not on the list.
World of Beer announced that Patel will open the Hinesville store in late 2024.
The company's 40 locations are in 16 states, with the largest number (16) in Florida.
The closest one to Jacksonville is Newberry near Gainesville.
Newberry's menu includes German pretzels, wings, quesadillas, flatbreads, bowls, salads, burgers, tacos, sandwiches, sides and soups.
Lunch menu prices start at $12.25 for burgers and sides, $10.99 for sandwiches and sides, $11.50 for flatbreads and $9 for salads.
Weekend brunch and side menus are also available.
Wine starts at $7 a glass.
The extensive beer menu ranges from $4 for 12-ounce cans of Brooklyn Vienna Lager, Brooklyn Pilsner and Brooklyn Summer Ale to $25 for a 16-ounce Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout.

Two friends founded Tampa-based World of Beer in 2007, the site said.
The company's product managers say they rotate the taps daily based on customer preferences. “With over 350 beers from 40 countries, the quantity and variety of beers is unparalleled,” the company said.
