Attention, Westwood and Glendale: a brand new, flashy Persian restaurant is opening in town next year, and I think it's one of the best Persian restaurants in the country. Set to open in the summer of 2025, Greater Atlanta-based Rumi's Kitchen will open a location at Westfield Century City. According to What Now Los Angeles, the restaurant chain recently applied for a liquor license. This expansion will mark the sixth for the fine dining brand, which already has three locations in Greater Atlanta, as well as locations in Washington, DC, and Houston.
the current Los Angeles Times Restaurant critic Bill Addison once hailed Rumi's Kitchen as a “treasure” in Sandy Springs, an Atlanta suburb that has a similar Persian food scene to Glendale, and the Century City location (housed in the mall's former Pink Taco space) marks a homecoming of sorts for chef-owner Ali Mesghari. Raised in Los AngelesIf the new Rumi's Kitchen is anything like its other restaurants, the restaurant will serve Middle Eastern cuisine with a focus on perfectly made kebabs, including kubideh, hummus, mast okhia and ku.Khoresh bademjan, a creamy roasted eggplant dip topped with yogurt. House-made sweets like kunefe, a traditional Middle Eastern dessert, and specialty house cocktails round out the all-star menu.
Over the course of my life, I've been to just about every major Persian restaurant in Los Angeles, and while each has their strengths and merits, none compare in overall quality and consistency to the evening I experienced at Rumi's Kitchen in Alpharetta this spring: juicy, well-seasoned kebabs and perfectly cooked side dishes. In a city where Persian food is a fixture, with a few exceptions like the recently opened Azizam, this new suburban restaurant is sure to turn some heads.
Rumi's Kitchen is expected to open in summer 2025 and will be located at 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard.
