A convenience store chain that is continuing to expand into the Augusta area wants to locate its next store across from the Columbia County Fairgrounds, between Patriot Park and the dirt road that leads to the rock quarry.
Representatives of Parker's Kitchen have submitted conceptual drawings to Columbia County planners outlining the project, which would be centered around a 5,175-square-foot retail building on just over three acres at the corner of Columbia Road and William Few Parkway.

In 2023, the property's multiple owners requested that 3.37 acres be set aside for a Circle K, which would require the county to change the zoning of that small portion from residential agricultural to community commercial.

The business' site will stretch from the William Few intersection to the entrance of building supplies company Martin Marietta's Appling Quarry.

The Augusta Commission voted to rezone 3645 Wheeler St. to allow the new construction of a Parker's Kitchen in September 2023. The commission received a petition with more than 400 signatures in opposition to building a Parker's at an intersection that already sees significant traffic due to a McDonald's restaurant and a Walgreens pharmacy.
The Augusta Chronicle first reported that the company plans to build a Parker's Kitchen at the entrance to Riverwood Plantation at the intersection of Washington Road and William Few Parkway in Columbia County in 2023. There is also a recently opened store in North Augusta and one under construction in Grovetown.
