Parker's Kitchen, a Savannah, Georgia-based gas station and convenience store chain known for its Southern home-style cooking, plans to open a location in Wildlight, a master-planned community in Nassau County.
The proposed location would be the company's third store in Northeast Florida.
The company also plans to open stores in the North Jacksonville neighborhood at Fay Road and Alta Drive, and in the Westside neighborhood at Wilson Boulevard Northeast and Middleburg Road. Those locations were announced in July.
The proposed site in Yulee is on Florida 200 at William Burgess Boulevard.
The site plan shows a 5,175-square-foot convenience store, eight gas stations with 16 fueling stations and 35 parking spaces. Jacksonville-based Kimley Horn is the civil engineer.
Representatives from the 80-store chain are scheduled to meet with the Nassau County Development Review Board to discuss the project at 9 a.m. June 4 at the James S. Page Government Complex, 96135 Nassau Place in Yulee.
The menu on ParkersKitchen.com lists biscuits baked in-house daily, catfish, grits, sausage patties and gravy, chicken tenders, pork chops, pulled pork sandwiches, fried okra, breakfast burritos, lemonade and “signature chewy ice cream.”
According to the company's website, Parker's Kitchen aims to “redefine foodservice and convenience by offering fresh, Southern-inspired cuisine, quality products and exceptional customer service” at retail locations throughout coastal Georgia and South Carolina.
Founder and CEO Greg Parker opened the first location in Midway, Georgia, in 1976. In June, Parker's Kitchen announced its expansion into Augusta, Georgia, which opened on May 24 at the intersection of Mike Padgett Highway and Tobacco Road.
According to a news release, the new Parker's Kitchen will offer grab-and-go options, a hot bar serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, and electronic kiosk ordering. Highlights include never-frozen, never-antibiotic double-breasted Southern-style fried chicken tenders, specialty macaroni and cheese and potato logs, freshly made salads, gourmet coffee, freshly brewed sweet tea, fancy lemonade, 28-proof beer, fountain drinks with chewy ice and a variety of other convenience items.
