A 37-year-old Pontiac woman and her dog died in a kitchen fire Sunday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
Waterford Fire Rescue was called to the scene at 1 p.m. and found Lakeisha Arnae Moton unconscious in the hallway of a single-story home in the 600 block of Raskob Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A dog in a kennel inside the home also died in the fire.
An autopsy by the Oakland County Coroner's Office determined her cause of death was accidental and due to smoke inhalation.
Police and firefighters were called after a friend asked authorities to check on Moton, who the sheriff's office said tried to contact him but received no response.
Investigators found the interior of the home covered in a fresh layer of soot.
