A popular Colchester restaurant has temporarily closed due to a kitchen fire. According to Colchester Police, emergency crews were called to College Parkway on Sunday evening for a report of a structure fire. A portion of the road from the Vermont Army National Guard to Johnson Avenue was closed to one lane in each direction for hours as firefighters worked to put out the blaze. Burger Bar said in a Facebook post that the fire started in the kitchen, but thankfully the restaurant was closed and no one was inside. The post also said the extent of the damage is still being assessed, but that there was no damage to the structure of the building. However, Burger Bar said the entire building sustained smoke damage and that the kitchen would need to be completely demolished. Burger Bar will be closed for the time being as they work to reopen, according to the post.
