Chicago-based Protein Bar & Kitchen is opening its first multi-unit franchise in Indiana, with the first location in Crown Point set to open in July and featuring the brand's first drive-thru.
The unnamed franchisee is described as an experienced restaurant franchisee with multiple brands and locations. Details of the investment were not immediately disclosed.
“We're thrilled to welcome our first Protein Bar & Kitchen franchisee as consumer demand for healthy, protein-packed meals continues to grow,” CEO Jeff Drake said in a news release. “The power of all-day protein is growing in popularity, and we're excited to open PBK in Crown Point as we expand our locations across the country.”
A second store is due to open in Münster, with each store expected to create 18-20 jobs.
Protein Bar & Kitchen said it plans to attract more franchisees with its revamped store prototypes that offer dine-in, take-out, delivery, mobile app and online ordering, catering, as well as smaller spaces.
Protein Bar & Kitchen is looking for franchisees who have experience in the restaurant industry and a passion for convenient, healthy meal options to join its growing system. The brand describes itself as an active lifestyle brand that extends far beyond its stores.
The restaurant has developed a menu with more than 15 protein options, so customers can expect to enjoy a variety of flavors and ingredients throughout the day.
The Chicago store saw sales increase 27 percent over the previous year, averaging nearly $1.3 million in annual revenue.
