The Public's Annual Gala will be held on Broadway on Wednesday, May 8th with a special performance of HELL'S KITCHEN.
This year, The Public celebrates Hell's Kitchen's creative team: Camille A. Brown (choreography), Christopher Diaz (book), Michael Greif (direction), and Alicia Keys (music & lyrics). Hell's Kitchen's creative team, all native New Yorkers, has created an exhilarating and entertaining new musical about the world's greatest city. The musical, developed and world premiered at The Public last year, tells a coming-of-age story in the heart of New York City, inspired by Keys' own experiences growing up in Hell's Kitchen in the '90s. His performance at this gala celebrates this city and the notable artists involved in “Hell's Kitchen,” the latest in the Public Theater's long legacy of new musicals.

This year's annual event will be hosted by Gala co-chairs Yrthya Dinzey-Flores and Mychal Harrison. The May Gala begins with a pre-show reception at Mermaid Oyster Bar Times Square at 5 p.m., followed by a performance of the acclaimed new musical at the Shubert Theater at 7:30 p.m. After the show, an afterparty will be held at Bacall's.
