ST. LOUIS – World-renowned chef Gordon Ramsay made a highly anticipated stop in St. Louis for a private grand opening ceremony for his new restaurant, Ramsay's Kitchen, located at the Four Seasons Hotel.
Ramsay cut the ribbon as local and regional officials looked on. In an exclusive interview before the ceremony, Ramsay shared his thoughts on the opening.
“It's very unique to be on the river. That's what I thought when I first spoke with the Four Seasons two years ago. I looked at the space, I thought about produce, I thought about efficiency. But to me, when you come to a great city like St. Louis, it's very humbling,” he said.
Located in the heart of downtown St. Louis, Ramsay's Kitchen serves Ramsay-created dishes all day long. This is Ramsay's Kitchen's fifth location in the United States.
“Ninety-five percent of our ingredients come from within a 30-mile radius. It's a dream come true for our menu and our chefs. Honestly, the ribs and the beautiful sauces and the smoked chicken are what really makes this barbecue phenomenon here,” Ramsay said.
Community leaders attended the private ribbon-cutting ceremony, with Councilwoman Carla Spencer presenting Ramsay with a resolution, thanking him for his contributions to the field of culinary expertise and its future.
“My next ambition is to literally climb that arch and rappel down it. It's like the biggest slide a chef could ever want to slide down,” Ramsay joked.
Ramsay, known for hit shows “Hell's Kitchen” and “MasterChef,” handpicks contestants from the show to work in his restaurants.
Ramsay says the restaurant already has 30,000 reservations, the most he's ever had at one of his restaurants, so if you're planning on dining at Ramsay's Kitchen, we highly recommend making a reservation.
