NEW YORK — Rethink Food, a leading nonprofit organization with a mission to create a more sustainable and equitable food system, is exploring ways to accelerate organizational growth and engage the public. , expanded its New York operations with the opening of a new community kitchen in Greenwich Village. We can reduce food waste and address food insecurity. The new location will also feature street-facing spaces that will bring people together through educational experiences, a chef dinner series, events and community programs.

Rethink Food's community kitchens are modeled on a “program first” approach to philanthropy and are directly supervised by members of the culinary team, ensuring nonprofits thrive and providing nutritious, restaurant-quality meals. We are on a mission to serve all of New York City. Restaurant hospitality veteran Ken Baker is leading the culinary operations at this new location.

Rethink Food’s community kitchen model has been around since 2017; Over 1.7 million meals For the local community of New York City. The new space is now utilizing Rethink Food's innovative zero waste/excess sustainability model to prepare more than 15,000 meals that will be distributed free of charge to all five boroughs, seven days a week. The storefront will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a collaborative product corner and a coffee station, a long-time partner of Rethink Food. stumptown coffee.
The Kitchen's opening will coincide with the first Rethink Food Day on March 27th. The day was proclaimed last year by New York Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Council President Adrian E. Adams, and announced by Kate McKenzie, Executive Director of Food Policy in the Mayor's Office.
