EATONTON — A vibrant and eclectic shop has expanded to the Eatonton area.
Newly relocated to Clack Road Shopping Center is a unique shop specializing in custom furniture, antiques and home decor known as Redneck Designer. While the store's name conjures images of your grandmother's living room, with its old sunken sofas and familiar fish-themed wall art, the store's products include handcrafted, custom-painted furniture, high-end knick-knacks, and more. Decorations, etc. are completely different. Unique modern atmosphere. The store's grand opening at its new location only took place last Saturday, but it already looks like its unique, handcrafted items will be a fixture in the Lake Region for years to come. .
“A few years ago, I took a job designing store interiors for a construction company,” said Shirley Retter, co-owner of Redneck Designers. “My partner Joe [Miller]is the director who oversees all subcontractors, and one day we talked about: [our backgrounds]…One day we were talking about a table, and he said, “I can make a table like that.” So I said, “Okay, let's build a table like that,” and he built it. The parts I drew became more and more complex, and he did it all for me. Then her husband said to me, “You guys should form a team.” So we did, and we've been here since 2006. ”
In its 10 years of operation, Redneck Designers has opened locations throughout Georgia, from Newnan to Marietta to Peachtree City. All furniture, whether refinished or built from scratch, is done by hand by either Retter or Miller, and the duo's craftsmanship and attention to detail combine their signature rustic with contemporary This is evident by the unique cosmetic combination of sex. Individual. This unique look is primarily achieved through Retter's special science-based painting method. The shop's items are painted using a special method that eliminates the new, glossy finish common in most furniture stores and achieves a more homey, realistic aesthetic. In this work, Retter uses a new and up-and-coming type of paint unique to the Lake Country known as chalk paint. Rather than creating the shiny, reflective surface you get when using traditional latex paint, chalk paint gives items painted with chalk paint a more everyday, understated look. The resulting rustic, well-worn feel gives the furniture a distinctly Southern feel that sets it apart from other big-box store furniture. In addition to the unusual methods of painting and sanding, the redneck designer also introduced a slightly new idea to the world of furniture to the Lake Country.
“We take other people's furniture and redo it. No one else does that around here,” Retter said. “Others sell furniture that they have made themselves and we do that, but we also advertise and let people know that we also repair furniture. Joe There's nothing he can't solve – he's incredible.”
With the opening of Redneck Designer Shop, Lake Nation residents can now decorate their homes in a completely different way. There's no need to get rid of your trusty cabinets that you've been using for years, giving them new life and brightening up the rooms around them. Carefully crafted furniture often becomes as much a part of a home as the house itself, and designers make sure these well-worn pieces don't go to waste. A variety of items are on display in the store, including an old chest of drawers with two rows of drawers removed, a giant metal star that grabs attention, and a headboard with a word map attached to it. These items, like all the other items in the store, give off the feeling of being carefully made. Retter and Miller's craftsmanship and tool handling are evident in the pieces they create, but when it comes to quality furniture, the Lake Country residents could certainly do worse.
