After two “Top Chef” challenges, there were two eliminations. david murphy In “Chef's Test” valentine howell jr. In “Living the High Life”. There, they faced off in the “Last Chance Kitchen” for a chance to return to the competition… except it wasn't to be. David was nowhere to be found. His bottom three dishes on the “Chef's Test” may have served as a kind of “last chance kitchen,” since he wasn't mentioned at all in this week's first “LCK.” . As far as I know, he's fine forever. Watch this week's “LCK” above.
Valentine had to fight instead. Sue Ann, a secret 16th chef testant that the show specifically added to the “LCK” competition. For him to qualify for the main tournament, he must win five times. Tom Colicchio He and Valentine gave him a challenge to overturn Valentine's last challenge. For “Living the High Life,” the chefs had to take a common bar snack and elevate it. But for LCK, we had to use high-quality ingredients (caviar, lobster, champagne, etc.) to create approachable, comforting dishes that pair well with beer. After 30 minutes, I finally got the following results:
Valentine: New England Lobster Bake — Poached lobster, andouille sausage, corn, and turmeric puree
Sue: Fish and chips — fried lobster, rice chips, caviar tartar sauce
Honestly, I wasn't sure which one to support. On the one hand, Valentine had a vibrant personality that I wanted to see more of, while Sue was brand new. In fact, introducing a new chef just to eliminate him in the first “LCK” would be weird and anticlimactic. Also, it seemed unfair to start one of this season's chefs at such a disadvantage in the first place, so he better be good. In fact, he was. Sue won the head-to-head competition with her creative take on premium ingredients. Sadly, Valentine's return to corn was his undoing as he was eliminated in the “Living the High Life” Elimination Challenge. Again, it was too thick.
“I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed,” Valentine said in his final exit interview. “After everything was said and done, I came here to put myself out there, and I did. It would be great if I could win the title of Top Chef, but what I take away from this whole experience is knowing that I I feel like it’s much bigger than I thought.”
“We did it!” said a triumphant Sue. “One-on-one, baby, 1,000 at-bats — for now. Such a relief. Chefs, I'm here to run around like crazy all day every day. I’m here to win the crown.”
