Following a ribbon cutting at the Macoupin County Fair last week, the fair committee dedicated the kitchen at the Macoupin County Fairgrounds' Smokey Jennings Pavilion to the late Ronnie Joe Reiher.
Reiher served on the fair's committee for many years and, along with his son, Quinn Reiher, cooked the famous fish sandwich in this same kitchen.
The fair's committee presented Reiher's family and friends with a plaque that will be hung above the entrance door.
The fair's committee also announced that Quinn will take over kitchen duties during the fair in memory of his father.
“I am so proud of what my father did for our community,” says Q. Reiher. “I'm grateful that the fair board recognized how much he loved the county fair. I have so many memories cooking with my father in this kitchen, and now every time I walk through these doors I see these plates and smile, and I look forward to continuing the tradition of cooking with my close friends.”
