Police have arrested a Soldotna woman after she allegedly threatened neighbors with a knife and damaged multiple vehicles.
Soldotna Police and Alaska State Troopers responded to a home on West Corral Avenue on Saturday after a report of an elderly woman firing a weapon. Upon arrival, police found 71-year-old Katherine Bishop of Soldotna standing on the front porch with a large kitchen knife. Police say Bishop went inside the residence and disposed of the knife before exiting through the back door and being arrested. Police say she stomped on an officer's foot while being detained.
According to the police investigation, Bishop's neighbors were playing cards in her garage when they heard her yelling. When the neighbors came outside, Bishop allegedly pointed a knife at one of the four and threatened to kill them. Police say the target backed away with his hands up, while Bishop approached him. Bishop then went inside the home and locked the door. Police say the other three went inside the garage and walked away, closing the door. Four minors also witnessed the incident, two of whom ran outside during the argument.
Police said Bishop damaged two vehicles with a knife. It was later determined that no gun was used in the attack. Police said witnesses heard Bishop hitting objects with the knife and mistook it for a gunshot.
Bishop was arrested on suspicion of assault, terroristic threatening and criminal damage to property.
