ASHEVILLE — An Asheville restaurant remains closed due to a kitchen fire.
On May 29, Asheville Fire Department spokesperson Kelly Klopp confirmed in an email that the fire broke out at Stone Ridge Tavern, located at 1003 Brevard Road, and that the Asheville Fire Department was dispatched to the area around 1:30 p.m. on May 25 in response to a report of a structure fire.

“No one was in the building at the time the fire started,” Klopp said, adding that no one was injured.
The damage was confined to the kitchen.
AFD detected “light smoke,” but an investigation determined the fire was out. Klopp said AFD canceled the mission and turned the restaurant over to a property manager.

Stone Ridge Tavern was unavailable for comment at press time.
On May 27, the restaurant posted on its social media pages:
“Hello everyone! As many of you may be aware, unfortunately we experienced a small electrical fire early Saturday morning. As of now, we are hoping to be back open by the weekend. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Once we have a specific timeline, we will be sure to let you know. We look forward to serving you all again soon!”
An online GoFundMe campaign organized by manager Angela Nash has been started to raise money to help support the roughly 80 unemployed employees. In a statement, the restaurant said it would remain closed until the “unforeseeable future.”
As of May 31, $1,025 had been raised, and the donation feature was disabled by the organizers.
