The woman killed in Syracuse endured a grueling journey to the United States in search of a better life. Jocelyn Joana Toaquiza left her native Ecuador last year in search of safety and a better life in the United States. Her family said she and her family walked across parts of the Amazon rainforest, passed through Mexico and made it to the U.S. border, where they sought asylum. Police found Toaquiza late Saturday morning, buried in a shallow grave about 15 feet from a tree in Lincoln Park.
