Taylor Swift can now add the title “firefighter” to her list of accomplishments after putting out a blaze in the kitchen of her New York City apartment.
The pop star had been working on the song with friend and fellow musician Gracie Abrams, and the track “Us,” featuring Taylor Swift, appears on the 24-year-old's new album. Our Secret It dropped on Friday (June 21st).
But the all-night writing session took a dramatic turn when a fire broke out in Swift's kitchen, with Abrams posting hilarious footage to his social media.
After Abrams instructs her to use a fire extinguisher, a concerned Swift says in the video, “What do I do with this?”
of Anti-hero “I think we're going to die,” Singer joked, prompting Abrams to laugh and warn viewers to never try to put out a fire with water.
Swift then arrives on the scene with a fire extinguisher, but can be heard struggling to get it to work and saying “bitch” in frustration.
Suddenly, the fire extinguishers began to put out the fire… but smoke and extinguishing agent covered much of the kitchen.
“Our purses were ruined, our shoes were ruined, I think the whole room was ruined,” Swift said.
There was laughter and coughing, and Abrams turned the camera to Swift's cat, who appeared to be confused about what had happened.
Along with the video, Abrams wrote, “Writing this entire song from 2am to 6am was some of the most fun I've ever had in my life.” Follow Now we know how to use a fire extinguisher. Love you.”
Fans of Swift and Abrams reacted to the video on social media.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Abrams also spoke about the fire that occurred six months ago.
“She was a legend. I don't know how she knew what to do at this time, in this state,” Abrams said Tuesday (June 18).
“We both had terrible coughs for weeks because of the fumes from the fire extinguishers.”
As well as writing songs together, Abrams will support Swift on the US legs of her Eras Tour and will return to join her when the tour returns to North America for its final show.
