Taylor Swift is known for making music that starts fires, but apparently she's not so bad at literally starting fires, or at least accidentally starting them.
The Hellas Tour star accidentally started a fire in the kitchen of his $50 million TriBeCa apartment, with friend and collaborator Gracie Abrams on hand to capture the whole tragedy on camera.
“Writing this song from 2am to 6am was some of the most fun I've ever had in my life,” Abrams wrote on Instagram while celebrating the release of her sophomore album. “Now I know how to use a fire extinguisher @taylorswift. I love you.”
In addition to sharing some behind-the-scenes footage of the pair writing songs, Abrams also shared a sneak peek at an accidental kitchen fire and Swift's attempts to put out it.
“What do we do about this? … I think we're going to die,” Swift joked as she tried to put out the fire. “Our purses are ruined, our shoes are ruined, I think the whole room is ruined.”
They were eventually able to put out the fire, but it was reportedly started by a nearby candle and not a cooking accident. Billboard She said she experienced the effects of a fire extinguisher firsthand: “I don't know how she knew what to do at this time, in this state. We both had terrible coughs from the fire extinguisher fumes for weeks.”
Fans were quick to comment, joking with comments like, “The song is literally amazing” and “The fire incident is so on brand for you two.”
“Firefighter Taylor in action π©ππ§―ππππ,” another person commented.
Abrams' co-producer, Aaron Dessner, also joked about the incident while praising the album.
“I'm so excited to announce that @gracieabrams' sophomore album, The Secret of Us, is out today. I couldn't be more proud of Gracie and the album and all of my friends who worked on it,” he wrote on Instagram. “Taylor's apartment almost burned down while we were writing this song so we recorded it at Long Pond and had a blast the whole day and night,” he wrote to X.
