Developers Richard Rogers and Travis Gordon of Urban Vantage, Derek King and Michael Puma of Preservation Studios, and Jason Yots of Common Bond Real Estate have announced that the mixed-use The Monroe building/project* is nearing completion.
Formerly known as the Record Theater at 1786 Main Street and 1040 Lafayette Avenue, this integrated project will be a Main Street booster, drawing students from the nearby Canisius College campus and bringing Western New York It helps attract people from all over the area. A “soon” destination.

Monroe will feature 17 workforce apartments and 11,000 square feet of commercial space. Most of the commercial square footage is already leased, although two commercial spaces are still available for lease. The development team is currently leasing the apartments, which will be available from June 1st. On average, the leasing agency says the apartments will be affordable to households making less than 80% of the area median income.

Saffron Kitchen: As Buffalo's first Persian restaurant, Saffron Kitchen aims to enrich the local culinary scene with authentic flavors. The diverse menu includes kababs, dunas, sandwiches, mantu, kaburi palau and more, showcasing a variety of enticing dishes. Desserts include ferni, silverenzi, saffron ice cream, farudeh, and more. Offering unique dining options that go beyond typical fast food, Saffron Kitchen caters to late-night cravings and promises a cozy atmosphere where patrons can indulge in flavorful meals throughout the day and into the early morning hours. The impending opening of the restaurant is met with eager anticipation and heralds a new era of culinary diversity in Buffalo's food scene. Open daily from 11am to 3am.
Westminster Economic Development Initiative: WEDI's West Side Bazaar is a small business incubator where aspiring entrepreneurs develop business concepts and learn the basics of running a business. Located at 1432 Niagara Street on Buffalo's West Side, it is also a community gathering space where people of all races, ethnicities, and socio-economic backgrounds share a love of good food and unique products. The Bazaar has restaurants serving Vietnamese, Egyptian, Congolese, Italian, Malaysian, Jamaican and Korean cuisine. He has two food retail booths on the ground floor of The Monroe, as well as additional booths for pop-up events. The second floor includes two professional offices (home to a cookbook store and mental health counselor), gathering space, a learning lab, a commissary kitchen, a wellness room for nursing mothers, and additional seating. WEDI leaders see The Monroe as an opportunity to provide Bazaar's recent graduates with a foothold in an independent “brick and mortar” setting.
