The Look Book: The Opening Night of Hell’s Kitchen Was a Fashion-Filled Love Letter to NYC
The evening offered an array of different city styles, from decked-out denim to spray-painted emblems of the Big Apple.
The opening night of Hell’s Kitchen on Broadway was not only a celebration of the new musical from Alicia Keys, it was also a star-studded tribute to the concrete jungle where dreams are made of. There were fashion homages to New York style all around, from denim to a Yankees shoutout.

Cast member Shoshana Bean hit the nail on the head with this fabulous love letter to NYC—literally. Her wrap-style skirt, which showed off a bit of leg, features spray-paint designs of NYC landmarks, like the Yankees logo, the Statue of Liberty, and a big apple over the city skyline. Her simple but stylish white top is the epitome of NYC effortlessness. And who hasn’t worn a black statement belt with a gold buckle on a night out in the city? It’s absolutely a rite of passage!
This denim twin look from the show’s creator Alicia Keys and her onstage counterpart Maleah Joi Moon has us seeing double! And although both Keys and Moon wore the same material, their individual styles certainly shined through. Keys had a classic, structured take on dark denim, while Moon’s featured a dramatic overcoat perfect for a leading lady. Both of their tops are cropped, with Keys featuring a collared neck, which perfectly balances the bustier structure underneath. Moon’s top has a more free-spirited cut-out design—and, of course, plenty of rhinestones for this emerging star to step into the spotlight.
Cast member Nyseli Vega is a duo-chromatic dream in this beautiful two-piece ensemble, with a cropped, strapless purple top and elongated skirt featuring a gorgeous purple-green color shift. Her sheer purple gloves add a touch of elegance. Her hoop earrings, gold bangles, and strappy heels bring on the city glitz and glamour.
Jackie Leon
This star is on fire! Cast member Jackie Leon is absolutely killing it in this flame-red outfit styled by Antonio Consuegra. The red silk mini dress and matching knee-high boots are already jaw-dropping on their own, but their look is brought to the next level with their black-and-red acid-washed jacket. The look is finished off with stunning makeup by Haley Sipes, hair by Gregory Alexander, and plenty of chained necklaces that have Leon looking like pure gold.
William Roberson
Cast member William Roberson looks like pure luxury in this gorgeously-fitted cropped suit. The short length of the jacket paired with the long flare of the pants creates an elongating effect that has Roberson looking on top of the world. And opting for no shirt left plenty of room for his necklace to shine. Topping it all off with a fedora gives a fantastic old school New York vibe that Roberson pulls off perfectly.
