From Freedom, Maine to the whole country!
For the winter, The Lost Kitchen is closed, so Chef Erin French will be taking a road trip across the country to find new ingredients and fresh inspiration for the restaurant's next season's dishes.
The season premiere of “Getting Lost with Erin French” premiered yesterday on Magnolia Network and is also available to stream on Max.
In the first episode, Erin French and Michael Dutton go on the road in search of culinary inspiration and adventure as they leave the snow behind and head south to New Orleans.
The Lost Kitchen, located at 22 Mill Street in Freedom, Maine, is a pretty remarkable success story. The place is a foodie's dream come true and has become something of a phenomenon.
Amazingly, the restaurant seats just 48 people and is so inundated with reservation requests that you have to send in a postcard to secure a spot.
This isn't an easy feat, as the restaurant is only open from May to October – diners are selected by lottery – and Freedom's beautiful location, unique cuisine, and farm-to-table dinners have garnered rave reviews from people all over the world.
Their new Farmer's Market is opening for the season: Join them every Tuesday from 11am-2pm for their new outdoor market at The Lost Kitchen and enjoy a market full of fresh Maine produce sourced directly from your favorite farmers and producers.
In addition to the 20 vendors, there will also be a home shop in addition to a wine shop.
The 2024 season will open on Tuesday, June 25th!
Erin's story is remarkable: In 2013, she entered rehab to treat her addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs. At the time, she was going through trouble in her first marriage, which ended in divorce, a bitter custody battle for her son, and the closure of her first restaurant. Which makes her massive success even more impressive.
French details these struggles in her book, “Freedom: One Chef's Story and How He Rebuilt His Life from Scratch.”
