Other nifty features include dual gloveboxes and a flashlight.
Rivian delivered an unexpected one-two punch at the R2 launch yesterday, surprising everyone with the even smaller R3. However, the first order of business will be to begin deliveries of its long-awaited rival, the Tesla Model Y, but that won't happen until early 2026. When it finally hits the road, the R2 comes with a nice range of accessories.
Like the large R1T pickup and R1S SUV, the latest entry in Rivian's ever-growing lineup caters to the needs of outdoor enthusiasts with plenty of options. For example, the travel kitchen comes bundled with a water tank, cooler, his induction cooktop with additional storage space, and even a cookware set. Rivian offers hanging lights for when you're cooking in a secluded area at night.

You can also install a removable cargo box with a handle and small wheels on the side for transportation in a small kitchen. Suitable for items that may clutter the inside of a vehicle, such as the bed of a small portable pickup truck. The interior is excellent for storing luggage, as not only the rear bench but also the front seats can be folded flat. Oh, there's also a front trunk.
what else? The cargo box on the roof is nothing special, but Rivian can replace it with a so-called treehouse. This is a boxy rooftop tent that comes with a ladder for easy access. A bike mount on the rear connects to the R2 without tools and can accommodate two bikes. Some cars have an umbrella holder built into the driver's door, but electric SUVs use that space as a flashlight.
The new Rivian R2 is definitely an interesting EV, but unfortunately it will take some time to reach the market. It won't go on sale until 2027, especially in Europe (including the UK). In the US, prices start at around $45,000, but you'll be paying more for these accessories. Logically, it follows that the euro version will be more expensive once value added tax (VAT) is taken into account.
