CAMP JAMES GARFIELD, Ohio, July 19, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The USO (United Service Organizations) announced that it will deploy a new mobile unit to Camp James Garfield, Ohio (CJAG) this summer. The mobile unit is a fully operational mobile USO center with a kitchen, games and activities to support National Guard units on the move. The USO expects to support more than 2,000 military members at this single location over the coming months.
“We are honored to welcome the USO to the base during this year's annual training period. The USO is widely known as a place of comfort and refuge for Soldiers on deployment, and having the USO here is a force multiplier that will assist our Soldiers during their rigorous training period,” said Lt. Col. Shawn Robinson, CJAG garrison commander.
In addition to CJAG's mobile units, the USO will support a high-tempo season for the Coast Guard's 9th District, based in Cleveland, Ohio, and plans to provide programming to the region including:

A “Program in a Box” containing games and activities for military personnel and their families was sent to select Coast Guard bases.

Celebrating and commemorating the USCG's 234th anniversary.

It provides support from USO core programs, including the USO Dog Program, the USO Care Package Program and visits from USO Gaming.
“The USO is committed to supporting the men and women who serve our country, and this mobile contingent is just one way we show our appreciation for their sacrifice,” said USO Regional President Rebecca Parks. “We are proud to bring this new capability to Ohio over the summer and look forward to meeting and supporting the brave men and women who will be training there.”
The USO Mobile Unit will be stationed at Camp James Garfield from now through July 28, 2024, offering a variety of activities and events, and military members and their families are invited to stop by and experience the USO difference.
