They also suggested a bright and playful color palette with Kathy's interests in mind. The pale purple, lime green, peach pink, and berry shades were inspired by the packaging of La Her Croix Sparkling Her Water, which is a big fan of carbonated drinks. And the black-and-white cement tile floor is reminiscent of her beloved cat, Oats. The result is a deeply personal and highly energetic aesthetic that is sure to evoke joy.
position: Built nearly 100 years ago, this mansion is located in Reynoldstown, an urban area near the city's east side. It's located near the BeltLine, a multi-use trail development that's always busy with active people, from walkers to cyclists.
Before: The small, cramped kitchen had a jumble of freestanding appliances and no storage or counter space. Unfortunately the layout was very flawed. “We had a bottleneck getting in and out, so we removed a wall to create more space,” Curley recalls. “There was just no place for people.”
Martin Rickles Studio also had to address several structural issues. “It's an older house, so there were some floorboards and beams that needed replacing,” Jennifer says. “There was water damage that needed to be addressed. It wasn't just a cosmetic remodel. It was a very extensive renovation.”
Inspiration: “Years ago, Kathy was one of the founding members of this sparkling water club with some friends of ours, so we used the La Croix brand and created several different color palette options. “I developed it,” says Jennifer. “She also travels a lot. She has been to Morocco several times, where she also shared some images with heavy use of pastel colors. And another main inspiration was her cat Oats, a very cute, fluffy panda-like cat, so we used black and white floor tiles to mimic his facial pattern.
