Two teenagers are accused of stabbing and slashing each other at Hell's Kitchen High School. The incident was one of three violent incidents at city schools within a 90-minute period, police said Wednesday.
Police said the two students, ages 15 and 17, were shot at the Stephen T. Mather Building Arts and Craftsmanship High School on West 49th Street near 10th Avenue around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday. We confronted each other. During the collision, the younger boy was slashed in the face and the older boy was stabbed in the chest.
Police said both people were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. About three hours later, police charged the boys with assault for attacking each other. The names of the teens are not being released because of their age, police said.
A Ministry of Education spokesperson said the school was placed on soft lockdown following the clashes. Students were told to move out of sight and be quiet while teachers checked hallways, locked classroom doors and turned off lights.
Officials said the school does not use scanning, so students do not have to pass through metal detectors to enter the school.
Around the same time, in the Bronx, a 15-year-old boy attending Evander Child Education Campus on East Gun Hill Road near Bronxwood Avenue in Williamsbridge was injured in the back of his neck during a fight with an older boy. I was cut.
The boy refused medical treatment and the 17-year-old who attacked him was charged with assault, police said.
An 18-year-old student at Queen's High School of Liberal Arts and Sciences was stabbed in the back and slashed on his left arm during a fight with a classmate at about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday. No arrests have been made in that case.
