I’ve reproduced the WCK newsletter in its entirety here, which arrived in my email inbox late this afternoon: I’ll leave you with that statement, but let me just say one thing.
If you can afford to donate to their work, please send it as soon as possible. Devastating events continue to occur around the world, with Brazil experiencing the latest climate disaster. Whether it's the result of political or war aggression, extremist violence born of hatred, or the failure to tackle global warming, WCK is on the move to feed our fellow human beings.
In this newsletter:
Latest updates from Gaza, Brazil and Ukraine.
WCK has been named one of TIME magazine's “Most Influential Companies.”

Over 400 million meals provided
Since its founding in 2010, World Central Kitchen has provided 400 million meals to families affected by humanitarian and natural disasters. Today, our relief teams are on the ground in Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine and Brazil, providing hope to families affected by crisis, one meal at a time. Read the latest updates from the field below.

Gaza city centre kitchen to expand capacity
The crisis in southern Gaza is growing increasingly severe. Israeli attacks in Rafah have once again forced over a million Palestinians to flee in search of safety. Increased attacks and restricted access to humanitarian aid have forced WCK to suspend operations at our main kitchen in Rafah and relocate many of our community kitchens further north. Despite unprecedented challenges, we have cooked tens of thousands of meals in our kitchens in central Gaza and plan to increase our cooking capacity in the coming days as dozens of aid trucks have entered Gaza since Sunday loaded with desperately needed supplies. Our teams have provided over 47 million meals in Gaza since our first response in the area in October.
Though the devastation is widespread, WCK's Palestine team is on the ground every day supporting neighbors in need, alongside those directly affected by the war. Raeda, one of the many women who heads our bakery in Rafah, is a beacon of hope in Gaza. She has dedicated herself to supporting her neighbors who, like her, have been forced to flee their homes. Watch the video below to learn more about her story of hope and courage.
WCK Expands Flood Response in Brazil
The WCK team identified an indigenous community in need, five miles south of Porto Alegre, where some families had returned home but didn't have the means to cook for themselves. We provided ingredients and cooking utensils.
WCK has been in Porto Alegre for six days, helping families affected by the severe floods in southern Brazil. Together with local partners, they have served more than 16,000 meals, distributed drinking water and dry ingredients for cooking. “You can imagine that a hurricane or tornado can happen very quickly, but this one has been going on for weeks without stopping,” said Juan Camilo, WCK's response leader on the ground in Brazil.
The reality on the ground remains harsh, with vulnerable communities being the slowest to recover and many businesses, including markets, unable to reopen. Food remains urgently needed and our teams are working hard to scale up our response and partner with more local restaurants and food trucks to get meals to families in need.

Ukraine team responds to increased attacks
Russia's latest offensive into eastern Ukraine has continued to intensify in recent weeks. Daily attacks on residential areas and critical infrastructure are further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis caused by the 27-month occupation. Last week, WCK's emergency response teams were deployed to the regions of Kharkiv and Donetsk, where attacks have caused loss of life, forced evacuations and widespread environmental damage.
On Saturday, a Russian bomb struck a hardware store with more than 100 customers and employees inside the building, killing at least 19 people. Our team quickly arrived at the scene of the explosion and remained there for five days as search and rescue efforts continued. We provided hundreds of meals to emergency workers searching the rubble for survivors.
In the village of Lyman in the Donetsk region, where some of the fiercest fighting is taking place, our team responded to a forest fire sparked by Russian artillery fire. These fires are common in eastern Ukraine, and WCK is providing food for the firefighters who are working tirelessly to put out the blazes.
